They're also priced more affordably than many standard-depth French door fridges and can remove the necessity for a separate, smaller under-counter freezer. LG Smart Mirror InstaView counter-depth refrigerator (LMWC23626S) isn't an exception with the capacity of a standard fridge in contemporary, sleek design, with an integrated dispenser for easy access to the water filter.
This model's exterior showcases a fingerprint-resistant stainless steel finish and a mirrored InstaView panel that adds to the modern look of the interior. The door bins are spacious, and the top right shelf can be folded down to form a half-depth shelves that allow larger items to fit. The bottom of the fridge is stocked with crisper drawers, while the deli drawer with its full width is ideal for meat or fresh produce.
The refrigerator has a recessed Icemaker that is located on the back wall. This helps save space and lets you store more ice bags. The refrigerator is equipped with door cooling systems that uses vents on the freezer and fridge door to let cold air into. It helps prevent hot spots and helps keep temperatures more consistent throughout the refrigerator.
This LG refrigerator was a standout during our tests. It offers ample space to serve a family, but we did notice a few irritating flaws. First the freezer drawers don't remain at the temperature we'd like. The middle drawer was 41 degrees during our peak testing which is hot enough for ice cream and other frozen food items. The temperature in the rest of the freezer remained at around 36 degrees.
Another issue is that refrigerator doors have handles that are sunken on the inside and beneath which makes it difficult for shorter people to comfortably guide them closed. It may seem trivial, but we prefer front mounted handles on refrigerators to make them easier to open and close.
This fridge is expensive however it is worth it for those who want an elegant appearance in their kitchen. This fridge is recommended for those looking to upgrade their existing fridge or are building new homes and want to have a seamless look for their kitchen.
Samsung Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
The RF23M8090SG is Samsung's newest and most elegant counter-depth French door refrigerator that retails at $4,200. It's a good-looking model that boasts useful features like an autofill water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It also did well in our cooling test, but we're not a fan of the gimmicky handles or the flimsy crisper bins.
One thing that makes the RF23M8090SG apart is its Bespoke line which lets you personalize your fridge by removing colored panels which can be swapped whenever you get tired of the ones you have currently. There are 11 different colors including soft pastels, bolder hues and four metallic finishes. These panels can be customized to include text or photos. This makes the fridge more personal and can be matched to your Rick Owens dress, Andy Warhol banana neon, or tie-dye Crocs.
The LED lighting can be altered to a different color which is a nice feature. And the refrigerator's interior is finished with a sophisticated finish that helps reduce smudges and makes cleaning a breeze. The only downsides of the RF23M8090SG are its somewhat congested beverage center and a bit of a learning curve in opening the door-in-door feature that houses a water jug and dispenser. You must feel for an unmarked lever on the underside of the door midway across, and when you have it you will be able to open another door inside the refrigerator that houses the docking station for pitchers as well as the water dispenser, and two shelves for drinks.
The 6.8 cubic-foot freezer compartment is big enough to accommodate a large amount of frozen food items, and it features an amazing slide-out drawer system that allows you to get the food you're searching for without opening the entire compartment. The freezer also features an open-air compartment that can be used to store small items as well as a large capacity storage drawer to store larger frozen items. This drawer can be locked with an access code to keep unwanted guests out, and it includes a handy LED light to let you see the contents at an instant. The freezer can also keep track of the energy consumption and help you lower your power bill using the SmartThings Energy Mode.

It also has a few annoying issues. Our test data shows the FGHB2866PF can heat up quite significantly in the freezer, and can become uncomfortable hot in the hottest shelves of the refrigerator. Our heat maps show how temperature changes minute by minute. The butter bin in the orange region on the right is extremely warm during our testing period. It may not appear to be a problem initially however, the fridge is spending the majority of its time at 32 degrees.
It's important to note that this model isn't Energy Star certified, which could be important for certain buyers. But the real problem here is that it's just not a top-quality fridge, and the lack of top-of-the-line features and durable construction make it difficult to recommend over better options at this price point.
